The career of Emmanuel Adebayor is set to resume from this season after he has reportedly joined Turkish club Caykur Rizespor along with his former Arsenal teammate Mathieu Flamini.
Adebayor spent the last six months at Crystal Palace as the London club took a last-minute gamble to see whether the Togo international still had the appetite for the game. However, he made only seven league appearances for the London outfit and scored one goal. His lack of interest in the game was being apparent and the club decided to let him leave on a free transfer by not extending his contract.
After spending the last few months looking for a new club, Adebayor has announced the move toCaykur Rizespor. After narrowly avoiding relegation last season, the club’s start to the new campaign has been in disappointing fashion once again. A 1-1 draw withKonyaspor clearly highlighted the need for a much improved strikeforce. Despite having been a failed player in the Premier League, Adebayor has the potential to lift the club to new heights. In addition, Mathieu Flamini has also joined the club and they may have secured a reliable source of quality for the upcoming campaign.
ManagerHikmetKaraman spoke highly of the arrival of these two names to Turkish football.”We reached an agreement in principle with both players. They’ll come to Rize within a few days and the last step of negotiations are going to be done. This is down to everyone working to finish the deals, so I have to thank the board of directors and our president,” said the manager while discussing about the club’s new signings on a free transfer. Comfortably avoiding relegation will be the main priority for the club in the new 2016-17 season. Since his return to Arsenal three years ago, Flamini made only 93 appearances in all competitions.
