Sunderland boss who coached Manchester United immediately before Louis van Gaal, David Moyes, has made it clear that he actually turned down the chance to sign the Togo international, Emmanuel Adebayor, despite a paucity of striking options at the Wearside.

With the injured Jermain Defoe and free-transfer signing Victor Anichebe still finding fitness, the confident Moyes played 17-year-old Swede Joel Asoro up front in Wednesday’s EFL Cup win at Queens Park Rangers, where Paddy McNair scored twice to see the team in to victory.

Emmanuel Adebayor has 97 Premier League goals to his name from his days in Arsenal, Manchester City, Tottenham and, most recently, Crystal Palace, but David Moyes was not moved to sign the striker, who presently saw a move to France, Lyon fall through.

Crystal Palace refused to give the Togolese a new deal after last season, and he has been searching of a new employer but none seems to be forthcoming. There were reports that Adebayor played with the idea of staying in the Premier League until claims from France emerged that a move to Lyon broke down after a meeting with manager Bruno Genesio.

He claimed the player had asked for a shot of whisky in his coffee and had a cigarette in his mouth which led to the breakdown of the deal, although Adebayor adamantly believes it was because the Togo captain refused to pull out of the Africa Cup of Nations early next year.

“Emmanuel Adebayo was offered to us about five weeks ago” Moyes said.

“I of course did not do anything concerning it then and neither am I going to do anything about it just now except something dramatically changes.”

Jermain Defoe is supposed to return to the first eleven when the Black Cats host Crystal Palace on Saturday.

The career of Emmanuel Adebayor is set to resume from this season after he has reportedly joined Turkish club Caykur Rizespor along with his former Arsenal teammate Mathieu Flamini.

In addition, Mathieu Flamini has also joined the club and they may have secured a reliable source of quality for the upcoming campaign.

Former Crystal Palace striker Emmanuel Adebayor has mourned the death of former Nigeria manager Stephen Keshi.

The 54-year-old surprisingly lost his life due to a heart attack a few days ago. It has come as a major shock to many concerned with African football.Keshi is credited with having improved the Nigerian national team into one of the best in Africa. Even though he left the job after the recent disappointment of the World Cup 2014, he made several stars out of average players as far as the national team is concerned.

Adebayor may have been out of the international focus for quite a while, but he has been abreast of the developments. The Togo international has been in and out of the national team for several years. His future with the national team looked to have been revived only recently, but Togo may reconsider calling him for the upcoming games since he is currently without a club after being released by Crystal Palace. Adebayor had joined the London outfit only in January on a free transfer. The exit may not come as a shock since it had been apparent for quite a while. Keshi is one of the celebrated names in African football after having lifted the African Cup of Nations as a player and as a manager.

“I knew Keshi when I was very young. He taught me a lot in my career. His death is a great loss to African football,” said the former Crystal Palace striker.“Keshi is a man I will never forget. He taught us about discipline in the squad and he made us a force at the time,” addedJean-Paul Abalo Dosseh, who is the former captain of the Togo national football team.Keshi was in charge of the Togo national team just before the World Cup 2006.

Crystal Palace have announced that the duo of Emmanuel Adebayor and Marouane Chamakh would depart from the club during the summer.

Their contracts are set to expire at the end of this month but the club said it will not renew it.

The Togolese international joined for a short time in January but Palace have opted not to offer the former Arsenal, Manchester City and Tottenham Hotspur striker a renewal after he scored just one goal in 15 appearances. On the other hand, Chamakh has an injury-plagued season. He has only managed to score 10 goals in 66 appearances since joining from Arsenal three years ago.

Palace is set to replace them with younger African forwards with better prospects. Alan Pardew is looking at Khouma Babacar and Cedric Bakambu. Babacar. Babacar, who is 23 years old, plays for Fiorentina has been compared to a young Didier Drogba while Bakambu is two years older and plays for Villarreal.

Senegal’s Babacar has the physical build to support Connor Wickham as he has a very bad injury record that requires protection. Babacar himself missed the end of last season with a torn thigh muscle. Bakumbu is different in that he is smaller, more mobile and has a decent goals’ record as he netted scored 22 goals in La Liga for Villarreal. His team-mate Eric Bailly joined The Red Devils for £32million recently.

Emmanuel Adebayor might remain club less as he was in the first half of the season before he joined Palace. Palace released the players as they are keen to improve their standings as they placed 15th last season though they reached the final of the FA Cup where they lost to Manchester United. Palace gave the players up on a free transfer after they decided they wanted fresher legs that what the 32-year olds could offer.

Emmanuel Adebayor who just quit the English Premier League club Crystal Palace this season that just ended is reported to be seeking clubs as he wants to remain in England.

The Togo international joined Palace in January after being clubless since the beginning of the season but could not impress enough to be retained. The player has played in Tottenham Hotspurs, Arsenal FC, and Manchester City all in England before his love to Crystal Palace.

The highly controversial player who is 32 years old could only get a goal in the 15 games he appeared in the club’s jersey. He earlier told reporters ahead of the FA Cup final match between Manchester United and Crystal Palace:

“The journey will stop in May, but that’s not the end of the journey. It is just a stop. It will continue, wherever I go to. I will always wish this club well.”

The agent joined Palace on a free transfer and will look to join on another free transfer as there are speculations that the player is still searching for club’s that will require his services going into the next season.

The season already looks like one that would be very competitive with the return of ex-Chelsea Manager, Jose Mourinho to now manage Manchester United after the club sacked Louis van Gaal, as he couldn’t get UEFA Champions League qualification spot. The Portuguese tactician is now saddled with the task of getting top four qualification. Pep Guardiola, former Barcelona and Bayern Munich manager will be taking over at Manchester City and would have the difficult task of winning the League of leading the team far in the Champions League.

Chelsea also have Anthonio Conte coming in with his own set target. Jurgen Klopp who has led The Reds to two finals already still has a lot to prove. All this just makes experienced players like Adebayor useful and the player is looking to sell this to any club that will consider him.

Former Arsenal forward, Emmanuel Adebayor was jeered loudly at when crystal Palace played against The Gunners on Sunday.

The centre forward says he is enjoying life at Crystal Palace and that he will “forget about all the haters.”

The 32-year old Togolese came from the sidelines to assist in a late equalizer as Palace secured a 1-1 draw at the Emirates. Alexis Sanchez scored earlier for the Gunners in the first half but when Adebayor came on in the 64th minute, he set up Yannick Bolasie for the late equalizer.

When Adebayor came in from the bench, it prompted the most noise within the stadium as fans jeered.

The striker moved to Arsenal from Monaco in 2005 for 7.5 million pounds. Adebayor played 142 matches scoring 62 times for the club. He left Arsenal for Manchester City in the 2009 season amidst controversy. From city, he was sent on loan to Spanish side, Real Madrid. He returned from Real Madrid as the loan deal ended before eventually signing with the Spurs in 2011 after an initial loan deal. He has his second most impressive run at Tottenham with 42 goals in 113 appearances.

From Spurs, he signed with Crystal Palace this season after being unattached as the season started.

While at Manchester United, Adebayor usually celebrated in front of Arsenal fans anytime he scored.

“It is not my first time coming back to play against Arsenal at the Emirates.

“You can see when I was on the bench and warming up and they were booing me I was just laughing. I cannot say I’m used to it because it is not good to get used to this kind of stuff.

“But at the end of the day, it is funny, the weather was good, we were playing in London and 20 minutes from my house, I have to be happy. If I’m not happy, then something is wrong,” the striker said.

Alan Pardew has explained why Emmanuel Adebayor was substituted at half-time in the game against Leicester. The Crystal Palace boss has stated that he did not have any issues with Emmanuel Adebayor and that he was substituted for tactical reason.

According to the Palace manager, his team was not playing on Adebayor’sstrength, and he feel that his team needed more movement up front. Adebayor does not offer this possibility up front, and it is for this tactical reason that he was replaced by BakarySako.

Pardew believes that Adebayor is a mature player and that he will understand the reason for this substitution and does not think this will cause any further issue within the team.

The game finished 1-0 in favor of Leicester leaving Crystal Palace with no win since 19th December where they defeated Stoke. Palace is currently 16th in the Premier League and can still be suck into the relegation battle if their current form continues.

Adebayor has joined Palace in January following his release by Tottenham and has so far made nine appearances for the team and has scored one goal.

When Adebayor attempted to make a loan deal to West Ham United, the transfer was blocked by the chairman of Tottenham Hotspur, Daniel Levy.

Fortunately for Adebayor, he was recently able to join Crystal Palace on a 6 month long deal which will last until the end of the season. This transfer was officially announced on January 26 as the Togolese continues expanding his already fairly extensive playing career.

He continues to receive his wages and will continue to do so until he finds a new club. However, Sheffield Wednesday manager Carlos Carvalhal says that there is no truth in the rumours that the club are going to sign Adebayor. If they continue on this form, the club could certainly dream about finishing in the top six or even above. The team finished mid-table last season and this will represent a major improvement.

Emmanuel Adebayor is not happy that he hasn’t been allowed to lead Togo on a regular basis.

And, thus, he has started to think of making himself unavailable for national duty in future.

In Togo’s recently played game versus Liberia, it was Dossevi and not Adebayor who was asked to wear the armband by the manager.

Adebayor took it very offensively, but, he let his game do all the talking as he went out there in the middle and scored the second decisive goal for his team to win the game.

But, thereafter, in the post match interview, he hinted it might have been his last appearance in Togo shirt.

What irked Adebayor was not that he was not named captain for that particular Liberia game, but, the fact that he was made aware of that only a few hours ahead of the game.
According to Adebayor, when all the boys gathered on the game day, the manager made the announcement that the team would be skippered by Dossevi.

Expressing his disappointment, Adebayor said, “This is serious business, not street Football. You can just turn up all of a sudden and tell the regular captain to step aside for somebody else. There is a little more graciousness expected at this level. It was surely gutting as far as I am concerned.”

“And, this has actually made me contemplate what I want to do regarding my international career because I am not sure what awaits me next. Maybe, for the next game, the manager leaves me out of the squad altogether and I have to watch the game from the crowd.”
